Namestnica odgovorne urednice pri avstrijski tiskovni agenciji Austria Presse Agentur (APA). Odgovorna je za digitalne strategije in inovacije v osrednji redakciji ter članica APA Taskforce AI.

Ključni vidiki njenega dela vključujejo podatkovno novinarstvo, razvoj digitalnih izdelkov in strategije avtomatizacije vsebin. Nazadnje je bila odgovorna za vrednotenje in implementacijo komponent umetne inteligence v uredniške poteke dela in izdelke. Njene glavne teme so uporaba umetne inteligence (UI) v novinarstvu, UI pismenost in strategija UI.

Schell, rojena na Dunaju, je svojo poklicno kariero začela kot ustanovna urednica na neodvisni radijski postaji Orange 94.0 in od leta 1998 delala kot svobodnjakinja. Leta 2000 se je pridružila APA kot medijska urednica. Po vmesnem postanku pri dnevnem časopisu Kurier se je leta 2008 vrnila na tiskovno agencijo kot vodja notranjepolitičnega oddelka. Položaj je zasedala, dokler se ni leta 2016 premaknila v uredniški odbor.

Schell je magistrirala iz skandinavskih in nemških literarnih študij. Je podpredsednica Presse Club Concordia, članica avstrijskega tiskovnega sveta in članica upravnega odbora združenja tiskovnih agencij MINDS International.

 

Katharina Schell is deputy editor in chief at APA – Austria Presse Agentur, Austria’s independent news agency. She is responsible for digital strategies and innovation in the APA newsroom and member of the APA Taskforce AI.

Key aspects of her work include data driven journalism, digital product development and content automation strategies. Most recently, she has been responsible for the evaluation and implementation of AI components in editorial workflows and editorial products. Her main topics are the use of AI in journalism, AI literacy and AI strategy. Born in Vienna, Schell began her professional career as a founding editor at the independent radio station “Orange 94.0” and worked as a freelancer from 1998. 2000 she joined APA as a media editor. After a stopover at the daily newspaper “Kurier”, Schell returned to the news agency in 2008 as head of the domestic politics department. She held this position until she moved to the editorial board in 2016. Schell has a master’s degree in Scandinavian and German Literature Studies. She is Vice President of the Presse Club Concordia, member of the Austrian press council and board member of the news agency association MINDS International.
